June 22nd                        Meeting # 465

Are You Being Treated Adequately for Your Brain Problems

As many of you know I have battled a traumatic brain injury for years. I have succeeded when my Doctor said there is no recovering from dementia.

Yet, although some may disagree, I have become “normal from afar” and have worked to return to neurotypical.

In my dozen years of treatment and being in multitudes of brain studies, I have become an expert in the area of brain health and recovery. This Saturday I intend to reveal all the latest research on how to have the heathiest brainy you can have. Brain health is a relatively new field of study, so information is not very available so please come on down and hear mind shattering information (OK, that was just a marketing term) and meet my service dog Chewy

All the information is practical and delivered in easy to understand terms.

Covered topics:

The four major needs of healthy grey matter.

What traditional medicine can offer in antiaging and cognition retention.

What nontraditional medicine offers (naturopathic, osteopathic Ayurveda and traditional chines medicine)

Best is where brain treatments are going. Hint—electricity.

Many of my suggestions can be applied immediately with good results

Dr. Daniel Herlihy

PS: I will be doing my medical standup routine as well so bring rotten fruit.

Statement on Free Speech

Our constitution and laws encourage the freest possible exchange of opinions, ideas, and information.  In part, that recognizes our worth and dignity as human beings.  To forbid us to speak our minds demeans us and makes us more like slaves or robots than citizens of a free country.  But as important as freedom of expression is for us as individuals, it is perhaps more important to society at large.

June 22nd                        Meeting # 465

Are You Being Treated Adequately for Your Brain Problems?

Dr. Daniel Herlihy D.O., and author, will discuss how we need to understand the status of brain health as we age. He will show that despite having two years of graduate-level study in microbiology, a medical degree and practice in family medicine, his car flew off an elevated highway with devastating consequence. Daniel sustained four surgeries, chronic pain, but worse, a diagnosis of dementia (92% disabled both physically and mentally) and going into Alzheimer's disease. He recounts how after his car accident, he survived with severe brain damage, many surgeries, and a service dog. As his body and mind were hijacked for years, he subsequently lost his house, job, wife, and identity. His memory was so affected he could not remember his address without looking at his driver's license. Further, even if just finishing a meal, he would eat another one having forgotten the first. Daniel went on to lose his cerebral cortex (the part of the brain making us human); his behavior became unstable and animal like much of the time. But what Daniel has regained is his unique voice as a scientist and a doctor. Further he has seen many advancements in his condition after eight years with his service dog. Daniel concludes having much to say from his perspective about the status of brain health as we age. See also: https://www.amazon.com/Chewy-Doctors-Amazing-LessonsTranscribed/dp/0997833815/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1crid=3BJDOWU50MG0O&keywords=chewy+a+doctors+

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?

College of Complexes

The College of Complexes is a loosely based organization committed to free speech, and those interested in continuing adult education, focusing on social issues and current events. The name is derived from "a psychiatric term for repressed ideas that compel expression." The purpose is to solve all the world's problems.

History [

This organization was founded in Chicago on January 6, 1951, by Myron Reed "Slim" Brundage,[1] at 1651 North Wells St in Old Town. The organization changed locations on several occasions. Through the 1950s into the 1960s the Chicago Police Department's red squad unit visited them several times because of College of Complexes’ anti-War stance.[2]]

The College of Complexes claims to be a "Playground for People Who Think," and seeks "to disquiet the minds of the people."[4] The primary function of this group is to organize weekly free speech forums where speakers, representing diverse points of view, will make a presentation. Following the speech, audience members are invited to make "remarks and/or rebuttals," and each is allowed a maximum of 5 minutes to respond. Order is maintained at meetings by adherence to the college's only, and long-standing rule, of listening to "One Fool at a Time."
